Caring for chrome and polished-metal furniture

Polished metal is more forgiving than it looks. It shows fingerprints more honestly than a matte surface — that is all — and a few simple habits keep it looking new.

Everyday

A clean microfibre cloth, dry or barely damp with warm water. Buff in the direction of the form and the surface returns to a clean reflection. Keep a cloth in a nearby drawer and it becomes a ten-second habit rather than a chore.

Now and then

For a deeper clean, a little pH-neutral soap in warm water, then dry thoroughly with a fresh microfibre cloth to avoid water spots. Avoid abrasive pads, scouring creams, and anything containing chloride or bleach — those are the only things that genuinely threaten a polished finish.

The long view

Quality polished metal does not fade, yellow or off-gas, and wipes back to clean for years. Care instructions specific to each piece's finish are on its product page.
